When to come

Most people will want to walk in the cooler seasons of Spring and Autumn; March to June, then September and October. However, WalkSpain believes that it is possible, with care, and attention to the environment, to walk in Andalucia all year long.

Blossom

The almond blossom is magnificent in March (photo), the wild flowers glorious in April, the figs abundant in September, the oranges are especially dazzling in November. In other words, there are various points of interest throughout the year.

Recently the best walking conditions have been in January with an air temperature of 18c while walking on crisp, if not frozen, ground. Winter walkers at this early season of the year are rewarded by maximum visibility.

The view

PLEASE REMEMBER: Mountains make their own weather and so “average” charts are of limited use. Weather forecasts for the area are best viewed for the town of Ronda. Find it at

Snowy Mountains

There are various fiestas, festivals, and religious processions throughout the year. Every village in Spain has a big party at least once a year. The biggest fiesta in Yunquera is in October when you can observe grape crushing, flamenco, a procession with the virgin, and then party all night as only the Spanish know how!
